Rapper T.I., born Clifford Joseph Harris, has publicly reacted to the ongoing legal and personal controversies surrounding his 21-year-old son, King Harris. The latest incident occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on April 12th in Gwinnett County, Georgia, where police stopped a camouflage-wrapped Tesla Cybertruck for speeding. The driver, King Harris, was clocked traveling at 70 mph in a 45 mph zone, forcing an officer to accelerate to 80 mph to catch up.

During the traffic stop, officers reported seeing a handgun on the dashboard and an open THC container in the center console. Body camera footage shows Harris questioning why he had to exit the vehicle, with the officer citing the proximity of the firearm. Harris refused to comply multiple times before eventually stepping out after consulting with his attorney by phone. Authorities later found what appeared to be an oxycodone pill on him during booking.

King Harris now faces charges including willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, felony possession of a controlled substance, speeding, and a seatbelt violation. He was booked around 2:30 a.m. and released approximately six hours later on a $4,545 bond. Body camera footage shows T.I. arriving at the scene and asking officers if there was any way to resolve the matter, but he was unable to prevent his son’s arrest.

The arrest is the latest chapter in a pattern of behavior that T.I. has addressed publicly. In previous interviews, T.I. stated that King asks for large sums of money, including six-figure requests framed as business proposals. T.I. also expressed frustration over King’s involvement in a feud with rapper 50 Cent, where King wore a t-shirt featuring an image of 50 Cent’s deceased mother in a diss track video. T.I. said he gained zero enjoyment from his sons joining the beef, noting that King’s actions threatened to undo years of parenting.
Despite the legal troubles and public scrutiny, T.I. has kept his son close, bringing King on tour alongside his older brother Domani. King, who grew up on the reality show “T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle,” has stated that his online presence shows his genuine, unfiltered self. The body cam footage of the arrest has sparked broader discussions about privilege and parental responsibility, with T.I. continuing to navigate the gap between his own disciplined rise and his son’s developing identity.
