Memphis rapper Finesse2Tymes, whose legal name is Ricky Hampton, is facing significant legal and financial challenges at 33 years old, according to recent court documents. The rapper and his girlfriend Suga were both arrested in Texas on possession charges for substances including marijuana. Just hours before his arrest, Hampton had performed at a nightclub in Little Rock, Arkansas.

The arrest came on a fugitive warrant out of Forest City, Arkansas, though no arrests have been made in a mass shooting that occurred at the Power Ultra Lounge in Little Rock. Hampton’s journey to recognition was not an overnight success; he spent years grinding behind the scenes, recording in whatever studio space he could find and building his name through small shows in Memphis.

After gaining traction, Hampton signed a 360 contract with Mob Ties, a deal that reportedly extended the label’s claim over virtually all revenue streams, including tour earnings, merchandise sales, and brand deals. This agreement became a glass ceiling for his career, as the financial rewards did not match expectations, leading to slower music releases and a thinning schedule of live shows.

A promoter filed a lawsuit after Hampton allegedly took a booking fee but did not show up for the event, sending his brother in his place instead. The court sided with the promoter, issuing a six-figure judgment against Hampton that he is reportedly unable to pay, as his income barely covers basic expenses and much of his earnings are claimed by affiliated groups.
The legal troubles have created a cycle of arrests and financial strain, stunting his career trajectory and making it difficult to maintain momentum. At 33 years old, Ricky Hampton carries the weight of a restrictive record deal, a cooling booking market, and a looming civil judgment, though his talent remains intact.
