A leaked phone call has ignited a major controversy in the hip-hop industry, following accusations by Houston rapper Sauce Walka against Drake. The dispute began when adult content creator Kylie Lawson, who is the mother of Sauce Walka’s child, released audio recordings she claims are of a private conversation with the rapper. In the recordings, a voice identified as Sauce Walka makes threats against Drake and makes derogatory statements about his own child.

Lawson shared the audio on her Instagram story on June 1, alongside a caption challenging those who believed Sauce Walka was unaffected by her alleged relationship with Drake. In the first clip, Sauce Walka is heard saying, “Cuz I will get Drake smoked. I will get Drake car shot at in the F.” A second clip, also posted by Lawson, features a warning: “Tell Drake to keep my name out of his mouth before I go on the internet and embarrass him and show him.”
Drake’s camp responded quickly through his head of security, known as Chubbs. In a social media comment, Chubbs dismissed the threats with three crying-laughing emojis and the statement, “And it ain’t going to do nothing.” Chubbs also appeared to confirm that Drake has addressed the situation in his music, liking an analysis of lyrics from his album *Iceman* that are interpreted as subliminal shots at Sauce Walka.

The controversy has deep roots, extending back to 2015 when Sauce Walka publicly accused Drake of being a “culture vulture” for capitalizing on Houston’s hip-hop scene without giving back. This criticism was echoed by Kendrick Lamar in his 2024 diss track “Not Like Us,” where he referred to Drake as a colonizer. Despite a brief reconciliation in 2024, the personal dimension of the current dispute has reignited the cultural argument.
On Wednesday, Sauce Walka released a new song titled “Baby Mama Drama” and a video filmed inside a red Maybach, where he reframed the narrative, claiming he sent Kylie Lawson to Drake and profited from the situation. Joe Budden and his podcast panel weighed in, suggesting Sauce Walka may feel disrespected as a pimp and noting that Drake has a pattern of becoming involved with women who are already in relationships. The authenticity of the leaked audio has not been verified, and Lawson has since removed some of the posts.
